Principalís Welcome

A very warm welcome to Yewlands Academy. We have high ambitions for and expectations of all our students and encourage them to work hard and be nice, conduct themselves well, be committed and treat fellow members of our learning community with respect.

Yewlands Academy is an 11-16 school with 900 students, situated in the north west of Sheffield. Our impressive modern school building creates an inclusive environment which inspires high quality teaching and learning. The school building is complemented by the state-of-the-art technology and resources including our Design & Technology department and ICT facilities, as well as a modern dance studio, drama studio and sports hall.

We offer a broad spectrum of curricular and extra-curricular activities – personal and social, sporting, artistic, musical and cultural and within this, the academy promotes the values of 5 Star Learning. We have the highest expectations of all our students in every area of school life. Our school is a caring, nurturing and ordered community with an atmosphere of calm and purposeful learning. This is to ensure that all our students feel safe and secure, achieve excellent academic progress and can be the best that they can be.

We recognise the different needs of students and work hard with them to develop talents and potential in a spirit of mutual respect. We value the unique contribution of each student to our learning community. We work closely with our Family of Schools and educational partners to ensure that transition from Year 6 to Yewlands Academy and then on to post 16 education is smooth.

Yewlands Academy is proud to be a member of the Brigantia Academy Trust. Brigantia is a Sheffield based, cross-phase multi-academy trust, currently consisting of six schools including Longley Park 6th Form College.

We enjoy the commitment and support of our parents and carers and thank them for ensuring their child is in school on time, in full school uniform and with good intentions every day.

Please take a moment to look at our website which provides you with all the latest information and news about life at Yewlands. You may also wish to follow our activities on Twitter. If you require any further details about the school, please do not hesitate to contact us; we will be pleased to meet you and show you around.
