Extra Curricular Activities in the Learning Resource Centre


Tuesday - Animation Club

Animation Club gives students the opportunity to develop ICT project work, share ideas, knowledge and techniques in a relaxed and creative atmosphere.

Scratch is a programming language that lets you create your own interactive stories, animations, games, and art. 

Adobe Flash is a multimedia software platform used for production of animations, rich internet applications, desktop applications, mobile applications and mobile games.


Wednesday - Creative Writing Club 

Mr Easdown will be available to proof read your work, offer guidance, and provide inspiration. Students will learn about different writing styles and techniques, and will be encouraged to take part in writing competitions. 

“Creative writing club is an excellent way to improve your written work. We learn new vocabulary, explore different writing techniques, and we are encouraged to explore our  imagination and have fun.” (Adam, Year 8)

Thursday - Illustration Club

Students have access to an array of resources and are encouraged to develop their creative skills and illustration techniques using a range of materials. As students develop these skills they will have the opportunity to display their work around the Academy on the digital screens and contribute images for use in the Yewtube magazine.

The club is open to all students of all abilities and continues to grow in popularity with an average of 15 students attending each week.
