Year 9 Parents' Evening, Uniform, Maths Revision, Year 11, Inset Days, End of Half Term.

We were very pleased to see so many parents and carers at the Year 9 Parents’ Evening last week. Staff are now analysing the returned data option forms and we will ensure, wherever possible, that students are allocated their preferences. Final confirmation of choices will be issued to students by next half term.

As the weather will start to become warmer on a more consistent basis, students do not have to wear their blazer for the rest of this academic year. Please note that we are not stipulating that students have to carry their blazer and they can choose to leave it at home if they wish. However, should students at any point decide that they wish to wear something over their shirt, it must be their school blazer. From September onwards, we will revert back to our normal uniform policy.

All Year 11 students have a login to access Pinpoint Learning ( as part of their ongoing revision for Maths. Students input their marks from completed exam papers into the site and Pinpoint will create a bespoke exam paper based on individual performance, along with links to tutorial videos. The mock examination papers have been added by class teachers for student use.
Students are also able to access grade specific revision on the school’s VLE, both within the revision tab, and also within their year page within the Maths area.

Please encourage your child to use these fantastic resources prior to their examination.

Year 11 exams and teaching continue to run until the final exam on Friday 14 June 2019 with many key GCSE exams taking place up until this point. Students will attend a mixture of their timetabled lessons and additional revision sessions prior to actual exams and are expected to come to school in their full uniform until 14 June 2019. Students have been given this information this week. If you or your child have any queries, please speak to Mrs Hirst.
In addition, to mark the end of their education at Yewlands, a farewell assembly has been arranged for students at 2.30 pm on Friday 24 May 2019.

The following inset days have been set for the next academic year:
Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 September 2019
Friday 25 October 2019
Friday 14 February 2020
Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 July 2020
In addition, a copy of the school holidays for 2019-20 is now on our website.

The Academy will close for the Spring Bank Half Term on Friday 24 May 2019 at 2.55 pm and students will return to school at the normal time on Monday 3 June 2019.

Finally, may I wish our Year 11s the very best as they commence their GCSE exams next week. Good luck to them all.

Yours faithfully

Andrew Kelly - Principal
