Dear Parent/Carer

As the academic year is drawing to a close, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the parents, carers and staff who have supported our students throughout the year. I would also like to thank the students for their hard work and commitment – they have been a credit to the Academy.

The last day of term on Friday 20 July will be a non-uniform day to raise money to support Hallam FM’s Sports Club Challenge - Cash for Kids. For a £1.00 donation students do not have to wear their uniform. Please note – no crop tops. Students will finish school at 12.20 pm on this day. To those children entitled to a free school meal, lunch will be served and they will leave site by 12.45 pm.

I am pleased to inform you that Mr Kellywill become Associate Headteacher from September 2018, with continued support from myself. Over the past year, Mr Kelly has shown he is committed to securing the highest of standards of learning, teaching and leadership to ensure the Academy provides the best education for your child. The school will also continue to be supported by a number of staff from across the Trust and for the next academic year Mr Bowns – Assistant Headteacher at Hinde House School will be based at Yewlands as Mr Hunt – Associate Deputy Headteacher has accepted a secondment within the Trust.

As shared with you earlier this year, please find below the timings of the school day for the new academic year.

Timing of the School day

The Academy has high expectations in respect of uniform. As from September, it will be mandatory for students to wear their blazer. Students will be expected to come to school in black trousers or appropriate length skirts, white business shirt, school tie and black shoes. Detailed information on our uniform expectations can be found on the Academy’s website by clicking the ‘Parents’ tab.

Thank you to those of you who contributed to the parental survey. From the feedback received, the parental letter will be circulated on a monthly basis from September, with the exception of Year 7 parents who will receive additional correspondence at the beginning of term. A more detailed analysis of the survey will be published in the new term.

Congratulations to Kiara, Rebecca, Georgie and Katelyn in Year 7, to Blake, Emma, Courtney and Harry in Year 8, to Ben, Samuel, Libby, Chloe, Leo, Jessica and Rebecca in Year 9 and Joshua, Jennifer and Joseph in Year 10 for receiving their children’s university award, with special mention to Leo who has completed 1,000 hours of out of school learning. Very well done to them all.

Please find below the school calendar for the academic year 2018-19, including the dates for our training days. Please note the two INSET days on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 September.
