Parental Letter 140618

Dining Room Facilities, Year 8 Parents' Evening and Year 10 mock exams.

Dear Parent/Carer

Students will start to notice changes to the dining arrangements in readiness for the move to a single lunchtime from September 2018. From next week, the sandwich counter will be moving to the main hall for break and lunchtime servings and a new pasta counter will be installed. In addition, students who bring a packed lunch to school will now be able to eat in both the Mall and the Learning Resource Centre.
Further work will continue throughout the remainder of this term to ensure maximum efficiency in the new academic year. I would also like to make you aware that a copy of the latest food prices has been uploaded to the Academy’s website for your information.

On Tuesday 19 June 2018 from 3.30 pm – 6.30 pm, the Year 8 Parents’ Evening will be held. If you have a child in Year 8 it is important that you attend as subject teachers will be available to discuss your child’s progress on a one to one basis.

Next week, Year 10 students are following a timetable of mock exams. The purpose of the mocks is to help students become more accustomed to the examination routine so that nothing is new to them when it comes to the ‘real thing’ next summer. In addition, mocks are beneficial to students because they help them refine their revision techniques and staff can measure progress to identify the questions students struggle with the most.

Please encourage your child to use their free time effectively to ensure that they are prepared and, as always, staff are available to speak to students if they have any concerns or queries. I wish all of our Year 10 students the very best of luck.

Yours faithfully

Simon Winslow
