Parental Letter 290319

Mental Health Survey, Edulink Parent Platform, Sporting Events, Easter Revision and Mobile Phone Usage.

Dear Parent/Carer

The Academy is pleased to announce it is now working with Sheffield Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service as part of the Healthy Minds framework to improve links between mental health services and schools. I would be grateful if you could follow the attached link and fill in the questionnaire

Earlier in January 2019, I sent a letter to you regarding Edulink, which is a user-friendly interface for staff, students and parents to use to be able to access information all in one place on any device via app or web browser.

We are now at the stage where we can provide individual access details. Year 8 and 10 parents have been issued this information at parents’ evenings held earlier this term. Access details for Year 9s will be handed out at the forthcoming parents’ evening on Thursday 2 May 2019.

For those of you with a child in Year 7, or any parent who has been unable to attend their child’s parents’ evening, can come into school and collect their envelope from reception or call in anytime between 3.05 pm – 6.00 pm on Wednesday 17 April 2019. Alternatively, please contact Mr Easdown to confirm your identity and then your username and password can be issued via telephone or email. Unfortunately, due to security reasons, we cannot issue log-in details to your child or post them to your home.

On Thursday 21 March 2019, 120 Year 3 students from across our Family of Schools and the wider local community participated in a Key Skills Festival at Yewlands. Our Year 10 BTEC Sport Leadership group designed several activities which helped students develop their accuracy, balance, co-ordination and agility skills. They did this through a range of sports, from Rugby to Gymnastics.

The engagement and enthusiasm of all ensured a fun and active afternoon, and a group of tired but happy Sports Leaders!

The school will be open over Easter for timetabled revision for Year 11 students (click here for details):

In addition, you can also view the current revision timetable that will further support Year 11s in the run up to their GCSE exams. We would encourage students to attend as many of these sessions as possible.

As you are aware, the Academy allows students to use their mobile phones at social times and occasionally in lessons when directed by their class teacher to support learning. Please could you support us in ensuring correct usage is followed by reiterating this with your child. This will ensure the Academy is not placed in a position of reviewing this privilege.

The Academy will close on Friday 29 March 2019 for the Easter holidays. Students return to school on Monday 15 April 2019. The Academy will be closed on the two bank holidays – Friday 19 April and Monday 22 April 2019.

Wishing you an enjoyable Easter holiday.

Yours faithfully

Andrew Kelly
