Synchronised Success for Year 9 Skater

Congratulations to Year 9 student Kierra who took 3rd place in the 2018 Junior Synchronised Ice Skating Championship in Belgium.

Congratulations to Year 9 student Kierra who took 3rd place in the 2018 Junior Synchronised Ice Skating Championship in Belgium.

Synchronised skating is a discipline of figure skating where 8 to 20 (the number of skaters on a team depends on the level) skaters skate on ice as a team, moving as one flowing unit at varying speeds while completing different types of footwork.

Synchronised Skating uses the same judging system as singles, pairs, and ice dancing skating and is judged primarily on teamwork, precision, speed, difficulty, and performance.

Kierra has competed in four competitions this season including The British Championships. The team improved their score at each competition, becoming stronger and stronger as the season went on. Kierra has been nominated as the most improved skater at the team’s presentation evening last week and chosen to skate Junior A which is the highest level she can compete in for her age.

We would like to congratulate Kierra for her achievements at the Sheffield Synchronised Skating Academy and wish her every success for future competitions.
