Year 9 Parents' Evening, Uniform, Year 11 Exams and End of Half Term.

Dear Parent/Carer

YEAR 9 PARENTS’ EVENING

We were very pleased to see so many parents and carers at the Year 9 Parents’ Evening earlier this week. For those of you who arrived at the beginning of the evening, thank you for your patience. Moving forwards, we will endeavour to put in place steps to minimise queuing at the front entrance.
Staff are now analysing the returned data option forms and we will ensure, wherever possible, that students are allocated their preferences. Final confirmation of choices will be issued to students by next half term.

UNIFORM

As the weather is becoming warmer on a more consistent basis, students do not have to wear their blazer for the rest of this academic year. Please note that we are not stipulating that students have to carry their blazer and they can choose to leave it at home if they wish. However, should students at any point decide that they wish to wear something over their shirt, it must be their school blazer. From September onwards, we will revert back to our normal uniform policy.

YEAR 11

Students have been working very hard during the first week of their GCSE examinations. To mark the end of their education at Yewlands, a farewell party has been arranged for students at 3.05 pm on Friday 25 May 2018. The party has been arranged for this time due to the English Literature Paper 2 GCSE taking place at 9.00 am that morning and the subsequent normal lessons that will be happening that day. Students will need to attend school as normal all day to gain entry to the party. There will be food and drink provided and student awards will be presented.

Year 11 exams and teaching continue to run until Tuesday 19 June 2018 with many key GCSE exams taking place up until this point. Students will still be expected to attend normal lessons for those subjects which still have exams during this period. If students wish to be in school for subjects where the exam has finished, we will find them a quiet area to revise in.

END OF HALF TERM

The Academy will close for the Spring Bank Half Term on Friday 25 May 2018 at 3.05 pm and students will return to school at the normal time on Monday 4 June 2018.

Yours faithfully

Simon Winslow - Headteacher
