Uniform
Uniform establishes a sense of belonging and pride and helps us to develop the professional ethos we feel allows our students to achieve their best and prepare for adult life.
The Yewlands Academy uniform comprises of the following items:
- A black school black blazer
- Black business trousers or a knee-length skirt
- A white business shirt and a school tie
Shirts must be tucked in at all times. Pupils must wear plain black formal shoes or full plain black trainers. Shoes must not have visible logos or colours of any kind.
Our uniform has variations for summer and winter months.
Summer uniform variation: During the summer term, trousers and skirts can be replaced with tailored formal shorts. No other shorts are permitted. In extremes of heat, the principal might designate that blazers can be removed.
Winter uniform: During the autumn and winter terms, a plain black school jumper can be added under blazers. Jumpers do not replace blazers and cannot be worn without/instead of a blazer. Hoodies and non-school jumpers are not permitted on site.
School bags: It is core expectation that every pupil carries a school bag big enough to carry their knowledge organiser, PE kit and pencil case. We will always provide a pupil with a school bag if they forget theirs, but a detention will be issued for this failure to bring core equipment.
Jewellery: pupils are permitted to wear one pair of stud earrings and one wristwatch. No other items of jewellery are allowed, and excessive jewellery will be kept safely by staff in the school reception.
Hair must be natural colours, and no extreme styles are permitted. The principal’s decision on what constitutes an acceptable hairstyle is final.

Sensory Friendly Uniform
We are aware that some students find traditional trouser or shirt material uncomfortable. In such circumstances, parents can order sensory friendly uniform from ASDA, Next or Marks & Spencers:
