World Book Day 2025

 

World Book Day takes place on 6th March 2025. 

 

World Book Day champions reading for fun, because it seriously improves children’s lives! World Book Day gives children a chance to benefit from the life-changing superpower of reading. It’s all about encouraging children to read their way, to find the fun and enjoyment it brings.

World Book Day Vouchers

Students can swap their £1 World Book Day Voucher for one of the following books:

  • Your local independent bookseller eg Rhyme and Reason.
  • Argosy.
  • Asda.
  • Blackwell's (selected stores only)
  • Easons.
  • Lidl.
  • Sainsburys.
  • Tesco.

Who's Who... follow the cryptic clue!!

Complete our cryptic staff fancy dress quiz and win house points and prizes. Can you complete the riddles and identify who's who?

Pick up an entry form from the LRC desk on World Book Day. 

 

Mystery Bookworm Competition

Win house points by correctly identify the teacher hidden behind their reading book! 

Students can view all Mystery Bookworms in the LRC on World Book Day . Entry forms are available from the LRC desk.   

Design a National Book Token Competition

This is an opportunity for students to get creative and enter our DESIGN A NATIONAL BOOK TOKEN competition!

World Book Day sponsors, National Book Tokens, are inviting children of all ages to share their creativity – and their love for books and reading – by designing their own fabulous gift cards.

Six winning entrants will bag HUNDREDS of pounds worth of National Book Tokens for their schools and themselves – find out more below!

 

PRIZES

 

ONE OVERALL WINNER (chosen from the first prize winners in each category) will receive a £10/€12 National Book Tokens gift card in their design for every child in their class,* and the opportunity for their class to visit a real bookshop, virtually or in person, to spend their National Book Tokens.

 

FIRST PRIZE in each age range wins:

£350/€400 National Book Tokens for the school

£100/€115 National Book Tokens for the pupil

SECOND PRIZE in each age range wins:

£200/€230 National Book Tokens for the school

£50/€60 National Book Tokens for the pupil

*Up to 35 gift cards; see terms and conditions for home-schooled students

My Reading Doodles

Feeling creative but don't want to design a National Book Token? Why not have a go at having a doodle. All entries will receive house points and be displayed in the LRC.   

 

Instructions

 

Doodle all the things that make reading fun for you,. Think about what you're reading, how you're reading it, where you are, what you're eating or what you're listening to.

Please submit your entries to Mr Easdown in the LRC. 

 

Author / Illustrator Videos

Access a range of videos featuring popular authors and illustrators. Find out what has inspired their writing, what authors and books have influenced them and why they think reading is such an important skill for young people.
