A Change to Senior Leadership at Brigantia Learning Trust

The Brigantia Learning Trust, which is currently made up of Hinde House 3-16 School (Primary and Secondary), Wincobank Nursery/Infant, Concord Junior, Longley Park Sixth Form College and potentially Yewlands Academy, was established from 2013.

The Directors are proud of what has been achieved in that time. Our Trust is a strong, expanding and reflective organisation with a clear moral purpose and a sound financial position. This is a tribute to the work of all in the organisation – leadership teams, teaching, support and administrative staff, Governors, Directors and Members.

At this time, we have much to celebrate. Progress in all our Academies is strong and continues to improve. This is a consequence of the very good teaching and learning that all our children, pupils and students experience on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, Chris French, our Executive Principal, has decided that he wishes to take up further challenges in Sheffield and has accepted the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Mercia Learning Trust. He will begin this new post from September 2018. Chris will be sadly missed as he has led, in partnership with the Directors and senior staff, the development of Hinde House 3-16 School and Brigantia for the past eleven years. We wish him well in this appointment.

As you would expect, Directors have started the process to recruit a replacement. Fortunately, we have some months to do this and are intending to look nationally to ensure we have the best person to lead Brigantia into the future.

Mr French’s role has developed over time so that he has spent less and less time leading Hinde House Secondary and more in leading the Trust. Day to day leadership has been undertaken by Mr Winslow (Head of School) and latterly Ms Noone (Associate Head of School). This will continue into the next academic year.

Obviously there will be no change to the leadership of Yewlands Academy which will continue unaffected.

We are confident in leadership across the Trust and it will be 'business as usual' alongside this change. We are now looking forward with some excitement to the next phase of Brigantia's journey. We are determined to ensure that every child and young person achieves the best they can and take their place in our society as rounded and productive individuals.

Yours sincerely

David Drayson

(on behalf of the Board of Directors)
