Our Voice Matters Survey

Yewlands Academy will be taking part in the Our Voice Matters Survey 2018/19.

This citywide survey has been taking place since 2006 (under its former name of Every Child Matters). In that time, around 50,000 children and young people in Years 2, 5, 7 and 10 have taken part.

The survey will be taking place at some point between November 2018 and February 2019. Your child’s school will schedule the activity to fit in with their own timetable.

The valuable information gained from the survey helps Sheffield City Council and our partners when we are planning what we provide for children and young people.

Schools also find the survey data useful for Ofsted inspections and to help identify priorities for development work.

The survey topics include health (i.e. diet, exercise, dental health, emotional health, sleep), friendships, school, road safety, online safety, fire safety, experiences of young carers, spare time activities, aspirations and more...

What your child will be asked to do

Your child will be asked to complete an anonymous online questionnaire on a secure website.

We do not ask students to enter their name but we do ask some optional ‘demographic’ questions which help us to analyse the data more usefully, for example, gender, ethnicity, and free school meals status.

None of this information can, or will, be traced back to an individual.

If you do not want your child to complete a survey

We hope that you will be happy for your child to take part but please complete the slip below and return it to school if you do not want your child to be involved. The school will make appropriate arrangements for those children whose parents do not wish them to participate.

If you are happy for your child to be involved in this activity as outlined, you do not need to do anything.

If you would like any more information or have any worries or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch using the contact details at the top of this letter.

Kind Regards
