Travel & Tourism Y10 Easter 2021

BTEC Travel and Tourism sessions are being held throughout the Easter Holiday. Please read the parental letter for more information.

Dear Parent/Carer

During lockdown we started year 10 working on the BTEC Travel and Tourism course. This course meant that we were able to use the period of remote learning to engage students with an additional qualification that will be a fantastic addition to students’ grades and will support their progression to any post-16 course. Even where students do not intend to pursue a career that is directly related there is still large amounts of applicable content for all students and, significantly, a strong grade to add to their applications for courses and jobs in the future.

Throughout lockdown students completed significant amounts of this course and with continued effort we can secure this course at a high standard during year 10. To support this, students are able to use the Easter period to continue and potentially complete their coursework. Our staff will be in the Academy to support students on the dates below and will work closely with each student to ensure that they have completed as much of the course as possible to the highest standard they can.

BTEC Travel and Tourism sessions are being held from 10am to 1pm on:

  • Tuesday 6th April
  • Wednesday 7th April
  • Thursday 8th April
  • Monday 12th April
  • Tuesday 13th April
  • Wednesday 14th April

For these sessions, students should arrive through main reception from 9.55am where they will be greeted by a member of staff. There is no need to wear uniform, but students must bring a mask.

Taking part in these sessions is a great opportunity for students to complete this qualification which will complement their existing studies. Once complete, students will have had the opportunity to achieve a qualification graded between a Level 2 Merit (equivalent to a GCSE grade 5.5) and a Level 2 Distinction* (equivalent to a GCSE grade 8.5).

We believe completing this course during year 10 is an ideal way to make the most out of the situation this year and we hope you will support us in engaging students with it. If you have any questions please email learningsupport@yewlandsacademy.org.

Yours faithfully
Mr Rich Bowns
Vice Principal
